Cat & Fiddle Arcade

The Cat & Fiddle Arcade bisects the main shopping block in central Hobart and comprises  approximately 17 buildings of various ages. Originally an open alley leading to a low-roofed, ill-lit tavern called The Cat & Fiddle, the Arcade was developed in 1962 by local entrepreneur Charles Davis, who also commissioned the animated clock based on the famous nursery rhyme that takes pride of place in the centre court.

The extensive refurbishment includes a new roof with 370mof glass skylights, new and restored facades to three main streets, and new finishes throughout.
