Built on the former Mount Hawthorn post office site, this mixed-use development embraces the site’s local history with large custom artworks that encourage public engagement. Housing a restaurant, retail outlet, 7 office tenancies and 6 residential apartments, the contemporary building is a shining example of cohesive mixed-use design.
There are 2 artworks – an etched concrete wall at ground level that references the historical significance of the original building and its value as an example of post-war international style architecture; and a more abstract piece fixed to the building’s facade – a copper-coloured screen adorned with patterns of old local street maps, and images of date and postal stamps.
